Biewer Lumber Announces Plans for Second Sawmill in Mississippi

Biewer Lumber Company, with corporate headquarters in St. Clair Michigan, has announced they are in the process of developing and building a new state-of-the-art sawmill to be located in Winona Mississippi. The new sawmill is expected to be completed and operational by January 2022. Biewer currently operates a sawmill in Newton Mississippi, which was completed in 2016, and the new Winona sawmill will be modeled after the Newton facility. The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) played a key role in site preparation and rail/road improvements. “The growth of companies like Biewer Lumber in Mississippi sends a strong message that our state has a supportive business environment and a skilled workforce,” stated Governor Tate Reeves. “Biewer Lumber’s construction of a new sawmill in Winona is a testament to that fact.” In response Tim Biewer President and CEO of Biewer Lumber said, “My family’s passion for the lumber industry has prompted this expansion in the south.
