US Weekly Jobless Claims Unchanged in the Week Ending April 13th

On Thursday, the US Department of Labor reported that the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 212,000 during the week ending Saturday, April 13th. This is unchanged from the previous week’s revised level of 212,000 (originally 211,000). The 4-week moving average was 214,500—unchanged from the previous week’s revised average of 214,500 (originally 214,250).

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment, known as continuing claims, during the week ending April 6th was 1,812,000. This is an increase of 2,000 from the previous week’s revised total of 1,810,000 (originally 1,8171,000). The 4-week moving average was 1,805,250—an increase of 4,250 from the previous week’s revised average of 1,801,000 (originally 1,802,750).

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2% for the week ending April 6th, unchanged from the previous week’s revised rate.
