On Thursday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand, seasonally adjusted, increased 0.2% in October. Final demand prices advanced 0.1% in September and 0.2% in August. On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand moved up 2.4% for the 12 months ending in October.
In October, most of the rise in final demand prices can be traced to a 0.3% advance in the index for final demand services. Prices for final demand goods increased 0.1%.
The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services increased 0.3% in October, after moving 0.1% higher in September. For the 12 months ending in October, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 3.5%.
