Construction Labor Market Softens
A closer look at the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) for August, with analysis by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), shows construction sector job openings declined to 188,000 from a revised 303,000 in July. A year earlier, openings stood at 304,000.
The construction job openings rate dropped to 2.2% in August, down from 3.6% a year ago.
The layoff rate eased to 2.2% in August, while the quits rate edged up to 1.8%.
