U.S. Producer Price Index for Final Demand Unchanged Month-Over-Month but Up Year-Over-Year in September

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported on Friday (10-11-24), that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand, seasonally adjusted, was unchanged in September, after advancing 0.2% in August and were unchanged in July. On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand advanced 1.8% for the 12 months ended in September.

The BLS is reporting that in September final demand services increased 0.2%, but that was offset by a 0.2% decline in prices for final demand goods.

The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services inched up 0.1% in September after rising 0.2% in August. For the 12 months ended in September, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services increased 3.2%.
