Builder Confidence Soars to an All-Time High, Lumber Risks Remain
The latest National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) indicates that builder confidence in the market for newly-built single-family homes increased 5-points to a reading of 83 in September. This is the highest reading of the HMI on record. The reading exceeds the previous historic high level of 78, which was set last month and matched the December of 1998 reading, which was 35-years ago.
