David Fortin

David leads the timberland and agriculture economic research team where he is responsible for the market analysis supporting investment and operational planning and decision making for Manulife Investment Management’s timberland and agriculture group. David is involved in transactional due diligence and exploring new investment strategies and concepts across timberland and agriculture sectors. His team maintains informational databases and produces analytical studies and thought leadership publications addressing trends in timber and agricultural commodity markets as well as the role of timberland and farmland in institutional investment.

Prior to joining the firm, David was vice president of economic analysis covering the global fiber market at Fastmarkets RISI, an information provider to the global forest products industry, where he was responsible for leading a team of economists covering pulp, paper, and wood products markets and the lead author of multiple recurring and ad-hoc forecasts and analytical reports on the industry.

David holds a BA in Economics from University of Massachusetts Amherst and an MA in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis International Business School.
