Prachi Kagzi
Prachi Kagzi, an MBA graduate from Cardiff University (UK), began her career in investment banking at India’s leading bank. In 2008, she founded a plastic packaging company with her husband, catering to India’s retail sector. The company grew to become the largest player in its segment and was successfully sold in 2012. She then launched a travel start-up, earning acclaim from various national newspapers and top travel magazines.
Currently, Prachi leads Megamet—India’s largest timber distribution company—along with her husband, Nitin Kagzi. The company operates across eight ports, including two in the Middle East.
Megamet is India’s leading importer and distributor of timber and has expanded its presence in the Middle East in recent years. The company operates 10 warehouses totaling 350,000 square feet, strategically located in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mundra, India; Jebel Ali, UAE; and Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Annually, Megamet imports approximately 200,000 cubic meters of timber from Central Europe, Scandinavia, and South America. Committed to sustainability, they exclusively source FSC- and PEFC-certified timber from sawmills practicing sustainable forestry methods.
Over the years, Prachi has earned numerous accolades, including being named one of India’s top 20 entrepreneurs by Nasdaq (NEC San Francisco) in 2017 and winning the Businesswoman of the Year award from Dubai Wood (UAE) in 2024.
Outside her professional life, Prachi is an advanced scuba diver and holds the national record for the largest hotel key card collection in India.
