Kai Merivuori
Kai Merivuori has an expansive background in the global sawmill industry as well as its intersection with the whole forest industry sector. He has an in-depth grasp of the complete value chain, from timber resources to the final consumer. Kai’s leadership skills are broad, ranging from steering industrial operations to overseeing projects in multicultural and consulting environments.
Throughout his professional journey, Kai has built and sustained partnerships with an array of stakeholders—including government agencies, major corporations in the forestry sector, and Finnish organizations of forest owners—and has fostered tight-knit collaborations with privately-owned sawmilling enterprises. Kai has been a member of the board of the European Organization of Sawmill Industries (EOS), Finnish Forest Council, Finnish Forest Foundation, etc.
Kai’s experience covers domestic timber trade in Finland, export sales, marketing and managerial positions within the sawmill industry, international forest industry consulting, and advocacy work in Finland and the EU. He has also been behind the Wood from Finland Conference and promotion program.
