Singapore Invests Heavily into Modular and Digital Construction

The Republic of Singapore, a sovereign city-state and island country has announced that they are making a major investment in modular building and the use of digital construction techniques. This with the end goal of improving construction productivity throughout the country. Zaqy Mohamad, the Minister for National Development and Manpower, in speaking with the Committee of Supply Debate 2020, noted that Singapore is on its way to reaching its 2020 target of 40% take-up of “design for manufacture and assembly” techniques (DfMA). The long-term goal is to reach 70% 2025. There is also an incentive to get more local talent involved in the building process, by limiting the number of foreign workers to 15% of a project in 2023.
