Robbins Lumber Reopens Searsmont Yard After Deadly Blast
Robbins Lumber has resumed operations at its Searsmont, Maine, facility following the explosion and fire that heavily damaged the mill on May 15, Midcoast Villager reported (6-1-26).
In a statement released May 29, Catherine Robbins-Halsted, vice president of Robbins Lumber and president of the company’s East Baldwin facility, said the Searsmont mill returned to full operations on May 26 and is processing customer orders.
“We remain committed to providing the quality products and dependable service our customers have come to expect. We are fully operational, ready for your orders, and look forward to continuing to meet your Eastern white pine needs,” Robbins-Halsted said.
To support ongoing operations, Robbins Lumber has constructed a temporary warehouse at the Searsmont site for product shipments. The company is also utilizing its Sanford location for storage while increasing production at its East Baldwin facility.
The May 15 fire resulted in one fatality and caused significant damage to the Searsmont operation.
