Canfor Announces Extension of Temporary Sawmill Curtailments at Select Facilities in BC

Citing ongoing weak market conditions and the lack of available economic fiber, Canfor Corp. announced on Tuesday (1-3-23) that it was extending the temporary sawmill curtailments—originally announced on December 5, 2022—at select solid wood facilities in British Columbia.

According to the press release, the production capacity will be reduced through two-week curtailment extensions in January at those selected solid wood facilities. The curtailment will remove approximately 21 million board feet in addition to the 150 million board feet previously announced in December.

Canfor says it will continue to adjust operating rates to align with market conditions and the available supply economically viable timber.
