The sawmill division of J.D. Irving has announced that in July they will be starting a modernization and expansion of their Doaktown NB facility. The $35 million project will see the mill increase by 14,000 square feet and will bring together the sawmill, planer mill and value added center under one roof. Currently the sawmill is on the other side of the road. The new, state-of-the-art technology will be installed throughout the lumber production process. The company is targeting spring 2021 for the commissioning and start-up of the new facility.
