US Wood Pellet Exports Decline Month-Over-Month but Rise Year-Over-Year in July
USDA: Wood pellet exports reach 651,699 tons in July
The US exported 651,698.8 metric tons of wood pellets in July, down from 865,995.4 metric tons in June, according to data released on Wednesday by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service and analysis by Biomass Magazine (9-6-23). However, that figure is up slightly when compared to 651,104.0 metric tons in July 2022.
The US exported wood pellets to more than 18 different countries in July. The UK was the top destination at 252,242.4 metric tons, followed by Japan at 151,637.6 metric tons and Denmark at 124,750.9 metric tons.
The value of US wood pellet exports declined to $112.86 million in July, down from both $171.43 million in June and $120.76 million a year earlier.
For the first seven months of 2023, total US wood pellet exports reached 5.24 million metric tons at a value of $968.66 million, compared to 5.01 million metric tons at a value of $857.86 million during the same period in 2022.
